COP26 ends this week – but what does it all actually mean for your business?
COP26 – The 26th annual ‘conference of parties’ is believed to be by many the worlds’ last best chance to get runaway climate change under control.
190 world leaders, tens of thousands of negotiators, government representatives, businesses and citizens have come together in Glasgow for twelve days of climate talks. International summits are complex, so we want to help you understand what they are working to achieve (particularly in the UK) and how you can get involved.
The Four main goals and what they need to achieve at COP26 are:
- Secure global net zero by mid century and keep 1.5 degrees within reach.
- Adapt to protect communities and natural habitats
- Mobilise Finance
- Work together to deliver
Working together is where you as a SME business come in….
Is the world’s largest net zero alliance, with over 3800 members representing over 15% of the global economy, 1 Billion people and 21% of the world’s biggest companies. Have all committed to halving emissions by 2030 and achieving net zero emissions as soon as possible – or by 2050 at the very latest as part of the ‘Race to zero’.
