Funding for Small Businesses and Start-Up’s in Horsham District
Horsham District Council’s Economic Development team launched its LEAP small business and apprenticeship grants fund to coincide with Small Business Saturday on 3rd December 2016.
The grant scheme is called the Local Enterprise and Apprenticeship Platform (LEAP) and consists of £71,000 to be distributed to small businesses across the Horsham District between now and September 2017.
If you are hoping to set up a new business, if you want to grow your existing small business, or if you want to take on an apprentice, you can now apply for a share of these grant funds to help you out.
For small business grants, you can apply for up to £2,000 which you will need to match with additional funds. For example, if you want to buy some equipment that costs £1,500, you can apply for £750 from the grant fund, and source the additional £750 needed from your own money, a bank loan etc. You must be able to demonstrate how the project will develop or establish your business and what difference it will make.
If you are a business that wants to take on an apprentice, you can apply for up to £1,500 to match the funding that the Government makes available so that there will be a much reduced cost to your business for taking on an apprentice.
Companies must be registered with Companies House, have fewer than 20 employees and be based within the Horsham District. Funding can be used for equipment , marketing, website development, etc…but not for salaries, rent or overheads.
